Introduction

On 23 and 24 August an international congress on  European cities in transition in the context of water and environmental planning takes place. It is organized by the Royal Dutch Waternetwork (the Dutch Water Association) together with NIROV (the Dutch Associoation on Environmental Planning).

European cities have to face immense challenges: coping with extremes like flooding, extreme showers and heat stress, making the watercycle sustainable, respond to population growth and decline, sustainable energy production, energy saving and environmental improvement.

This congress offers inspiration, knowledge and sharing experiences on water and environmental planning:

Scope of the conference:

  • Redevelopment: combination of challenges like the Swedish
  • Growth and decline in Europe: impact on water quality and -quantity
  • Waterinfrastructure: sustainability according to London
  • Sustainable energy and water the  Scandinavian way
  • Urban flood design: German solutions
  • Heat stress: not only a Spanish problem

This very promising and interesting congress takes place in Amsterdam during the famous international event Sail 2010. So block these dates – 23 and 24 August- in your agenda!
