Introduction
From October 29 to November 4, the city of Amsterdam will host the first International Water Week in the Netherlands (IWW). The IWW highlights integrated solutions covering the entire water cycle. One of the conferences that will be organised during the week of the event is the International Conference on Benchmarking.
In the context of benchmarking and the aim for operational excellence several questions arise: do we benchmark to improve our business or to confirm that we score at least in the middle of the ranking list and thus can lean back and go on with our daily business? If learning and improving to achieve operational excellence is the real focus, how do we meet this challenge? The goal itself is evident, the way to reach it is less obvious. The Amsterdam IWW offers a unique moment to share knowledge on this subject in an international setting.
